Technical Bulletin - May 04
<< Back
KLARGESTER, the leading manufacturer of domestic and commercial
sewage treatment plants, is always at the cutting edge of innovation
and technology within the pollution control industry. It understands
the marketplace and industry better than anyone and is also
aware that complicated government regulations can be a potential
minefield. In response, Klargester has created their very first ‘Technical
Bulletin’, which provides a handy condensed version of
the revised Building Regulations – Drainage & Waste
Disposal H and in particular Part H2.
Mandatory requirements and the accompanying descriptions can
sometimes be confusing and baffling, but this easy to use reference
tool from Klargester aims to make the process as easy as possible,
by detailing the relevant Wastewater Treatment Systems & Cesspools
section concisely yet effectively. The Technical Bulletin will
be mailed to carefully selected architects, specifiers, merchants,
local planning departments, builders and existing Klargester
clients.
The Technical Bulletin covers all relevant wastewater treatment
systems; septic tanks, cesspools and packaged aerobic treatment
systems. In addition, it also details, for the first time,
reed beds and constructed wetlands. A clear and concise bullet
point outline of the issues that have been affected opens the
document. They are; location of the system, percolation tests
on drainage fields, cesspool sizing, suggested information
notices and the new guidelines on reed bed systems
The format of the ‘Technical Bulletin’ then follows
a simple-to-use methodology, with each system being clearly
defined and the changes explained in each individual section.
Each one is then broken down further with the use of following
headers; What Exactly Are They? Siting, Design & Construction
and finally A Few Points To Remember.
Following the technical advances in the packaged treatment
plant industry, the Technical Bulletin provides an eleven
point step-by-step guide to choosing this option and in particular
Klargester’s BioDisc© model.
Marking is another intrinsic part of the new regulations as
they provide instant reference to end users as well as maintenance
and monitoring teams. This requirement can often be over-looked,
so Klargester have created a dedicated section to the subject
ensuring no further confusion arises.
The Technical Bulletin then concludes with a general summary
of H2 and is complemented by a quick reference table that acts
as an instant tool by detailing each solution, their definition
and the key change affecting them.
Paul Neilson, MD of Klargester commented; ‘The Technical
Bulletin is now THE definitive easy to use guide on how to
adhere to H2. Such documents can often be a daunting prospect
but we hope this initiative will help de-mystify these complicated
rules and regulations. We have taken great care to make sure
it is as user friendly as possible without omitting any key
facts or information. This Technical Bulletin is just the first
of regular issues all aimed at giving guidance on key topics
in the pollution control industry. We’ll keep you posted
when to expect the next one!’
